Representatives of Japan and Russia discussed the development of economic relations

Minister of Economic Development of Russia Maxim Reshetnikov and Foreign Minister of Japan Yoshimasa Hayashi exchanged views on the development of bilateral economic and trade ties, and also summed up the results of cooperation between the states over the past year. The communication between the heads of departments took place in the format of a videoconference, the NHK television and radio company reports.

"The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation, including ensuring mutual access to agricultural products of Russia and Japan, the development of transport links," the official website of the Russian Ministry of Economic Development says.

Reshetnikov stressed that the coronavirus pandemic did not prevent Moscow and Tokyo from implementing a number of projects. According to him, "the construction of the Russian-Japanese Center for Preventive Medicine continues, the volume of transportation of Japanese cargo along the Trans-Siberian Railway is growing, and electronic platforms for cross-border trade are being developed." The head of the Russian ministry invited Japanese partners to take part in the development of hydrogen clusters in Russia.

In turn, Yoshimasa Hayashi announced his readiness to develop bilateral dialogue between Tokyo and Moscow in various fields, including on the issue of concluding a peace treaty between the countries.
