President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the beginning of the meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin joked about his visit to Moscow. This was reported in the Telegram channel "Pool of the First", close to the Lukashenka administration.

The meeting of the presidents began on the afternoon of February 18, on the same day Lukashenka arrived in the Russian capital.

“I am also glad to meet with you, at least to dilute the Western elite a little...,” Lukashenka said.

According to the agency "BELTA", negotiations between Lukashenka and Putin are held in the Kremlin. Among the topics that are planned to be touched upon are issues of trade and economic cooperation, as well as current security challenges in the region.

Earlier, negotiations were held in Moscow with the participation of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and French President Emmanuel Macron.
