Moldova (bbabo.net), - The construction of the Yampol bridge across the Dniester has begun in the Vinnitsa region. The bridge will connect Ukraine and Moldova and will become part of a new highway between Kiev and Chisinau.
This will be the shortest route from the central region of Ukraine to the Balkan countries, bypassing Transnistria. This was reported by the press service of Ukravtodor.
The length of the bridge will reach 1409 meters, and the maximum height of the pillars will be 50 meters. This is ten meters higher than a standard 12-story building.
It also provides for the construction of a common checkpoint. The road T-02-02 Mogilev-Podolsky - Yampol - Bershad - Uman will be the entrance to it from the Ukrainian side. On the other hand, there is the Moldovan highway M2 Chisinau - Soroca.
Ukravtodor reported that the transport connection between Ukraine and Moldova across the Dniester is provided by a bridge located in the area of the Mogilev-Podolsky-Otach checkpoint and a bridge at the Bronnitsa-Ungur checkpoint, on which the permitted weight of vehicles does not exceed 3.5 tons. And at the Yampol-Koseutsy border crossing, only a ferry service operates.
In fact, the entire traffic flow passes through the international checkpoint Mogilev-Podolsky - Otach, Ukravtodor notes.
The contractor is currently concentrating metal structures and related materials at the construction site. Thus, more than 2,500 tons of span structures have already been manufactured. A full-scale complex of construction works at the facility will start in early spring.
It is planned to complete the construction of the bridge in two years, the junction point of the bridge has been agreed with the Moldovan side.
