Moldova - Popsoi: We want to review modern tire recycling technologies

Moldova (bbabo.net), - This was stated by Vice Speaker of the Parliament Mihai Popsoi on the program "In the Center of Attention". We don't want to put people before the fact without explaining popularly. We are considering modern technologies that have been used in the European Union for a long time", reports publika.md

Earlier, 34 NGOs applied to Parliament with a request to postpone the adoption of the law. However, Mihai Popsoi said that many environmentalists, on the contrary, support this project.

"None of the representatives of environmental NGOs likes the fact that they see millions of tires scattered all over the country every day," says Popshoy.

34 non-governmental organizations insist that the country should first establish a real-time air quality monitoring system. Their representatives argue that the existing equipment is outdated, and air analysis is carried out on only seven of the 70 existing indicators.

At the end of last year, several district councilors from Rezina demanded that the country's leadership withdraw this project. In a joint statement, they were indignant at the fact that they were not invited to consult on the bill, despite the fact that it is in the city of Rezina that the plant where the tires will be burned is located.

On Monday, the Ministry of the Environment issued a press release saying that in order to reduce water, soil and air pollution, waste must be properly handled. Burning them means converting them into an energy resource, which is a smart decision.

Last December, Environment Minister Iuliana Cantaragiu signed the government's positive opinion on a bill that would allow tire burning. The deputies supported the initiative in the first reading in early December last year.
