Former US ambassador surprised by US warning about terrorist attacks in Russia

Former US Ambassador to Moscow Michael McFaul called it "very unusual" the US embassy's warning to its citizens about possible terrorist attacks in Russia. He wrote about this Twitter page.

"It `s very unusual. I cannot recall such a message. He cited the only exception when there was a demonstration near the residence at Spaso House. US diplomats then advised people to avoid the area,” McFaul wrote.

Earlier, the US Embassy in Moscow on the official website of the diplomatic mission published a warning for American citizens about the alleged threats of terrorist attacks in public places in Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as in areas along the border of Russia and Ukraine. This was reported on the website of the diplomatic mission.

At the same time, the embassy does not provide links to specific publications, on the basis of which conclusions were drawn about the possibility of terrorist attacks in Russia, but calls to take this data into account when drawing up personal plans, as well as to think about options for evacuation from Russian territory that would not require the assistance of the American authorities.
