Russia - How Russian regions welcome refugees from Donetsk and Luhansk

Russia (bbabo.net), - More than 68,000 refugees from the Donetsk and Luhansk regions have crossed the border with Russia. Almost 400 temporary accommodation centers are ready for them in the regions. There are 149 more points in stock. According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 43 Russian regions have already expressed a desire to host the evacuees. Correspondents tell how the country welcomes its citizens and compatriots.

The square in front of the Voronezh railway station shines with red and blue flashes of police cars. "Who is coming?" - taxi drivers waiting for passengers ask each other. And just in case, they move to the far end of the square, where it is quieter.

Finally, the train slowly crawls into the station... Rescue officers rise inside to make lists of arrivals.

- We are from Donetsk, we have been on the road for more than a day. At eight in the morning we were put on buses and sent to Taganrog. They put us on a train, and here we are. On the way, they gave out dry rations, the conductor gave tea at the first request, thanks to her, - says Valentina Mironova.

She traveled more than a thousand kilometers with two children, third-grader Artem and six-year-old Petka. Artem boasted of dry stew. "Military!" - he says with meaning, although a purely peaceful cow was drawn on the bank. Petka excitedly tells that he saw the sea for the first time in Taganrog.

Then the river of people flows to the buses... Children's camp "Blue Screen" in a pine forest outside the city.

- Of course, you need to feed them hot. God knows what people have experienced, tired from the road. Children, again, - says the cook Svetlana Nefedova. "Put more sugar in your tea," she commands.

While the guests were refreshing themselves, sanitary checkpoints were deployed in the foyer of the dormitories. Medics in masks and gauze overalls measure the temperature of visitors, ask about complaints about their well-being, and gently but adamantly insist on treating their hands with a disinfectant.

Together with the evacuees, volunteers from the pedagogical detachment settle in the camp. Voronezh entrepreneurs and ordinary citizens offer their help to refugees. National communities have also actively joined in helping. The head of the Armenian Diaspora, Kamo Chobanyan, organized a reception for 98 people at a private hotel. Another 30 people are ready to settle in the Uzbek cultural and sports center. Azerbaijanis, Pashtuns, Meskhetian Turks bring bedding.

The day before, 433 people also arrived by train in Volzhsky, Volgograd region. They were placed in three hotels in the city and in one more in Volgograd. Then people will be distributed to temporary accommodation points in different parts of the region: camp sites, school camps, hostels. And hotels will accept new batches of refugees.

- It was hard to get. I am a health worker, not a doctor. They are already shooting. I quit my job in the surgical department, because everything is already ... Nerves - everything ... In 2014, I was sitting in the basement during the bombing. I can not anymore. And the son stayed there, I don’t know what will happen to him. There is no connection at the moment. I don’t have anyone else,” says Tatiana Krivoruchko from Lutugin, Lugansk.

Only women and children are on the platform. There are not even elderly men - everyone is at home.

- We came here with a purely female composition: six people. The rest, unfortunately, could not, in general, we have a big family. All the men were there. Let's hope for the best that we can return home, - says Sofia Lomakina from Lugansk.

There are 133 children among the refugees, nine of them are babies. Students will have the opportunity to continue their education. Here the decision is left to the parents. Psychologists are now working with all the arrivals.

About 700 families are planned to be received in the Penza region. If needed, more will be accepted. The preparation of places for temporary stay in sanatoriums, rest homes, and social security institutions is nearing completion. Also, the authorities will take responsibility for the medical care of arriving citizens and temporary employment.

Assistance to refugees at the station during accommodation will be provided by 200 cadets of the artillery school and volunteers. All will be provided with hot meals. Each school-age child will receive a briefcase with all the supplies. Students will be able to study online at local universities and technical schools.

The first residents evacuated from Donbass will arrive in the Moscow region on Tuesday. This was announced yesterday by the governor of the Moscow region Andrey Vorobyov. "Tomorrow, the first 1.5 thousand children and mothers, grandmothers will arrive with us. Mostly these are women whom we will meet in Naro-Fominsk," he said. People are planned to be accommodated in Volokolamsky, Klinsky, Kolomensky, Zaraisky, Podolsky and Pushkinsky districts.

At the same time, sociologists found out how Russians feel about the decision to host refugees from Donbass. "78 percent of Russians expressed support for the decision to receive residents of the Luhansk and Donetsk People's Republics evacuated to Russian regions," the latest VTsIOM poll says.
