An expert commission has been formed for the competition in memory of the People's Artist of the USSR, Hero of Labor of the Russian Federation, co-chairman of the central headquarters of the Immortal Regiment of Russia Vasily Lanovoy "Awakening Hearts". The federal jury of the competition was headed by the widow of Vasily Lanovoy - People's Artist of the Russian Federation Irina Kupchenko.
It also included People's Artists of the Russian Federation Vladimir Mashkov, Dmitry Pevtsov, Evgeny Knyazev, Sergey Makovetsky, Oleg Gazmanov, Mikhail Nozhkin, Alexander Mikhailov, Edgard Zapashny, theater and film actor, laureate of the State Prize of the Russian Federation Igor Petrenko, Honored Artists of Russia Zara, Denis Maidanov, Marina Devyatova, Sergei Voitenko and other representatives of the country's creative intelligentsia, for example, Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Nikolai Naumov, soloist of major Russian and foreign musical groups Mikhail Gavrilov, Crimean poet and composer, friend of Vasily Lanovoy Konstantin Frolov.
At the regional level, the work will be checked by the heads of the regional branches of the Immortal Regiment of Russia, cultural and art workers, public organizations and associations, educational organizations, creative unions and centers, museums, theaters.
“Vasily Lanovoy read poetry amazingly. Only a true artist can do that. He always rejoiced at someone else's talent, because he himself was immensely gifted. And if, thanks to the Awakening Hearts competition, we discover several talented children, this will be the best thing that can be done in memory of Vasily Lanovoy,” Vladimir Mashkov is sure.
Applications are still being accepted for the contest, and you can participate until March 13th. There are two directions in the competition. The first is an artistic reading of excerpts from the works of A.S. Pushkin, L.N. Tolstoy, A.T. Tvardovsky, as well as any other poems on the theme of the Great Patriotic War. There are also three nominations where participants can share their thoughts about their favorite works in the form of essays or poems of their own composition about Vasily Lanovoy. Given that 2022 has been declared the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia, a separate nomination is also associated with it, in which author's poems are expected.
“The competition is designed to become exemplary in terms of mass character, openness and nationality, it will provide an opportunity to realize their talents to a huge Russian-speaking audience from all over the world, as well as to remember Vasily Semenovich Lanovoy, who did so much to preserve the memory of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and Russian classical poetry. This contest, like the Immortal Regiment itself, will be able to connect and rally people of different nationalities, views, and religions,” Mikhail Gavrilov believes.
It is noted that many experts took part in the creation of promo videos of the project, where they read the favorite poems of the great artist. So, on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day, the Immortal Regiment of Russia prepared a video version of David Samoilov's poems performed by Igor Petrenko using concert recordings by Vasily Lanovoy.
