British Prime Minister Boris Johnson promised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to provide additional military assistance in connection with Russia's recognition of the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. This was reported on the website of the British government.

Johnson's telephone conversation with Zelensky took place the night before. The prime minister condemned the decision of the Russian authorities, noting that the recognition of the DPR and LPR makes the Minsk agreements meaningless.

The Prime Minister also said that he would explore the possibility of providing additional military support to Ukraine at the request of the Ukrainian government.

Johnson stressed that London will support the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine regardless of Russia's actions.

Earlier, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss discussed with her Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba sanctions against Russia, which will be announced on February 22.
