The head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, supported the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to recognize the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. The politician wrote about it in Telegram.

According to him, recognition was a way out of the impasse in which the process of resolving the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine has entered.

“Our country was left with no other choice. Hundreds of thousands of Russians live in Donetsk and Luhansk, and Russia has never abandoned its own. They will not be doomed even now. The peoples of the DPR and LPR will finally be able to defend their rights in the international arena, fight for peace and order in their land,” Kadyrov wrote.

He called February 21, when the decree was signed, a “historical day” and suggested that other territories would return to their native freedom following Crimea, the DPR and the LPR.

Earlier, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad supported the recognition of the DNR and LNR.
