Zelensky called the condition for the introduction of martial law in Ukraine

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky during a press conference with the head of Estonia Alar Karis said that martial law could be introduced in the country if the situation worsens, RIA Novosti reports.

“We believe that there will be no war against Ukraine and there will be no wide escalation by the Russian Federation. If there is, martial law will be introduced,” the Ukrainian president said.

Earlier, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said following a meeting with the Cabinet of Ministers that the Russian authorities were planning an invasion of Ukraine. He also noted that the kingdom's new sanctions against Russia would hit "economic interests that supported the Russian military machine."

The day before, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed the Russians with an appeal in which he stated the need to recognize the independence of the self-proclaimed Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics.

Later, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Kiev sees Russia's recognition of the self-proclaimed republics of Donbass as a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine and Russia's withdrawal from the Minsk agreements.
