The UN praised Putin's words about the Minsk agreements

The official representative of the UN Secretary General, Stephane Dujarric, commented on the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin that the Minsk agreements no longer exist. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

“In our opinion, there is a diplomatic framework that exists, that remains, and they should be used as a path to de-escalation,” said the representative of the UN Secretary General.

Earlier, Putin during a press conference said that the Minsk agreements no longer exist after Russia recognized the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics (DPR and LPR).

According to him, Russia has been engaged in the Minsk agreements for almost 8 years and was interested in their implementation. The head of state stressed that it was not easy to reach a compromise on the Minsk agreements, but it was found and this was a real movement towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict.

At the same time, as Putin said, the Kiev authorities did everything to reduce the Minsk agreements to zero. The President noted that they "were killed" long before Moscow decided to recognize the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics. The recognition of the republics of Donbass, according to him, was dictated by the fact that Kiev publicly declared its unwillingness to comply with the Minsk agreements.
