US President Joe Biden will hold a briefing on February 22, where he is expected to announce sanctions in response to the "deployment of Russian troops" in the DPR and LPR. This is reported by The Washington Post.

The White House reported that the President will make a public speech at 22.00 Moscow time on the current situation around Russia and Ukraine.

CNN journalist Betsy Klein on his Twitter page said that Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Mark Milley and CIA Director Bill Burns have already arrived at the White House.

Earlier it was reported that the Federation Council gave its consent to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the use of armed forces abroad in connection with the situation in the Donbass.

On February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed orders recognizing the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. The heads of the republics Denis Pushilin and Leonid Pasechnik addressed the corresponding request.

On February 22, the State Duma of Russia unanimously ratified the agreements on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance with the DPR and LPR. The documents for ratification were submitted by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The parliaments of the republics of Donbass have already ratified the agreements.
