Russia - Who will become the owner of the world's first dog on four prostheses

Russia (bbabo.net), - Monika, the world's first dog with four titanium prostheses, has returned from Novosibirsk to Krasnodar.

This is a story about many people and one dog. Some - knackers - cut off all her paws; Incidentally, the perpetrators have not yet been found. Others found the lifeless mongrel Monica in the village of Plastunovskaya, Krasnodar Territory: she was lying on the cold ground, refusing food and dying ...

Two girls Marina Gapich and Alla Leonkina decided to fight for the dog to the end: they found information on the Internet about "titanium paws" for pets that have undergone amputation. Novosibirsk veterinarian Sergei Gorshkov responded to the request of volunteers from the other side of the country, who has already put several cats on titanium paws using the invention of Tomsk scientists.

- The case was difficult, - Sergey Sergeevich admits. - No one in the whole world has performed such prosthetics before. Yes, I have prosthetic cats. But after all weight have dogs much more. And I had no room for error. After all, the dog immediately relies on prostheses after the operation, it cannot walk on crutches like a person.

For several months, Alla and Marina worked with the dog in the pool so that she would tone up and not gain excess weight.

The prostheses were modeled according to an individual digital model and printed from titanium-nickel-vanadium on a 3D printer. To prevent rejection, they were treated with a special bio-coating, which makes the implants similar in properties to a "living" bone.

However, the first operation was unsuccessful due to tomography errors. The dog had a broken bone. I had to print new prostheses.

- There were so many moments when it seemed - everything, nothing will work out, - Marina admits. - Too thin bones, crooked legs, CT error. But in the end, 10 days after the second surgical intervention, Monica took her first steps. Sergey Sergeevich is a real magician!

Monica spent more than six months in the clinic under the supervision of veterinarians. And now we can say that the process of osseointegration was completed successfully. Artificial prostheses have taken root.

- The dog has completely returned to normal life, rehabilitation is over, - says Sergey Gorshkov. - She walks, plays, runs and even jumps. Pain doesn't bother her. But Monica needs good care and supervision of specialists. She will not be able to live on a chain in a booth.

These days, the red-haired mongrel Monika, whose fate was followed by thousands of Russians and sent money for her treatment, flew safely from Novosibirsk to Krasnodar.

- She feels great. I recognized Dasha, with whom she had previously lived on overexposure, and now she does not leave her a single step, - said Krasnodar animal rights activist Marina Gapich. - It can be seen that the dog is emotionally completely different. Her eyes are sparkling. She confidently moves on prostheses, independently climbs the stairs and jumps on the steps. The lameness is completely gone.

What will happen to Monika next?

Alla and Marina, who saved Monika, hoped until the very end that there would be people in Russia who would be able to take Monika in. After all, this dog is unique not only because it has four prostheses at once. Monica also has the character of a real winner. For a whole year she desperately fought for her life and won this fight.

On March 9, Monica, who is jokingly called the world's first robops on social networks, will meet her new mistress in London. Well-known British animal rights activist Casey Carlin, who helps animals with disabilities, decided to take her big family. Casey already has a pooch called Millie, whose nose was shot off, and an earless Maggie evacuated from Lebanon.

- On March 9, Monica will arrive at Heathrow, - Casey writes on her Instagram - I am ready and looking forward to meeting her. She comes right to my birthday. And it happened quite by accident. Monica is a special dog.

Alla and Marina, after worrying, calmed down. After all, Casey Carlin has extensive experience in raising dogs with disabilities. And she promises that she will not let anyone hurt her again. And everyone who is worried about the fate of Monica will be able to watch her life in social networks. Casey will post videos and photos.

By the way

The other day Sergey Gorshkov operated on another dog found on the street without paws and tail. A mongrel named Trudy from Omsk has been fitted with three titanium bionic prostheses. A veterinarian from Siberia is going to continue to help animals in trouble.

- Every day I receive two or three letters with stories about dogs and cats. And in each of them a little tragedy. Someone fell into a trap, someone got hit by a car, someone was shot, - says the doctor. - Write not only from Russia. There are appeals from England, Finland, United Arab Emirates. People are ready to fly thousands of kilometers to save animals that have suffered through the fault of other people.
