Lukashenko called the West's attempts to impose someone else's will on post-Soviet countries doomed

Alexander Lukashenko drew special attention to the peaceful nature of the Belarusian people, who strive to "live and work in peace," speaking at a solemn meeting dedicated to the Day of Defenders of the Fatherland and the Armed Forces of Belarus on February 22, the presidential press service reports.

In the context of a sharp escalation of global tension, Belarusians must remember that they are the heirs of the victorious people and must make every effort to preserve the Belarusian statehood."

The people, according to the head of state, "rebuilt their country from the ashes of the Great Patriotic War, overcame the post-war devastation, the crisis of the 90s, built a beautiful and peaceful republic on their land in order to throw it all into the hell of a war in which everyone will lose. It's not about us," he said.

Belarus, he recalled, has never threatened anyone and will never become a source of threats to other peoples. “But the right to follow the primordial traditions and the political course chosen by the people is unshakable,” Lukashenka stated. “We have defended it and will continue to defend it. And not only with weapons in our hands. historical memory and education of patriotism.

That is why, the president is convinced, any attempts by the West to impose someone else's will on the post-Soviet countries will be doomed. He noted that revanchists can fight for the sphere of geopolitical influence in only one way - by sowing death and destruction, including by sponsoring extremism and radical groups. "The main thing is for the West to remember that the brotherhood and invincibility of the Soviet people did not go down in history with the collapse of a great country," Lukashenka said.

Addressing the current guards of the country's defenders, Lukashenka noted that they "personify the continuity of patriotism and the spiritual strength of the Belarusian people." At the same time, he stated with regret that today, living under a cloudless sky, Belarusians cannot feel completely safe.

"All these wars are a matter of the eternal conflict of civilizations, ideologies, cultures, in which the East Slavic peoples have never been aggressors (and remember: we will not be aggressors). And in defending ourselves, other countries were also saved, whose leaders are shamefully silent today" - said the Supreme Commander.
