“All words must make sense. In the current situation, it is necessary to weigh words and keep cool,” he stressed.

According to Le Maire, the definition of "invasion" does not quite fit the context of what is happening.

“The sanctions that we have adopted are caused by Russia’s encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine and are targeted,” stressed the head of the French Ministry of Finance.

He drew attention to the fact that "in France, gas prices are frozen and only 20% of the supplied gas is imported from Russia."

Earlier, US President Joe Biden announced new sanctions against Russia.

The Kremlin also reacted to Biden's speech on Ukraine.
