The Verkhovna Rada approved a law giving the government of Ukraine the exclusive right to allocate budgetary funds for defense in connection with the aggravation of relations with Russia, which recognized the independence of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. It is reported by TASS.

According to the document, the need to grant exclusive rights to the Cabinet of Ministers is associated with “an increase in the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine” and “the recognition by Russia of the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics.”

The leader of the Batkivshchyna faction, Yulia Tymoshenko, said speaking from the podium that the new law provides for the government's "absolute priority" in budget allocation - "this means that if you need to send 100 percent of spending to defense, then it will be so."

347 deputies voted for the bill, the exclusive right will be valid for three months.

Earlier, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine decided to declare a state of emergency throughout the country.
