He emphasized that the West does not accept Russia's military actions in Ukraine, calling them "an attempt to move the borders by force and remove the whole country from the world map."

“Quite deliberately, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin breaks with the basic principles of the UN Charter and the European world order,” Scholz said.

He said that Moscow would pay a "high price" and sanctions would "affect the Russian economy."
