Lukashenka is not going to postpone the referendum on the Constitution

The leadership of Belarus is not considering the issue of a possible postponement of the referendum on the Constitution, Alexander Lukashenko confirmed on February 24, answering questions from local journalists. "There was no thought to cancel or postpone the referendum," scheduled for February 27, the president stressed, whose words are quoted by BelTA.

The fact that early voting on the referendum is taking place in the republic without problematic issues, in the regular mode, was also stated by the chairman of the CEC of Belarus, Igor Karpenko, after a meeting with the head of the observer mission from the CIS, the executive secretary of the international structure, Ilkhom Nematov.

"It is already the third day of early voting. It is being held according to the plan that we approved at the CEC meeting. Therefore, we do not see problematic issues," the head of the election commission said.

According to him, the CEC, territorial and precinct commissions are open to interaction with international observers, specifying that today "there are 194 of them in the country." These are mainly CIS countries, Karpenko said. In addition, more than 44,000 national observers are working. "We have not yet received serious comments or messages from the commission that would require us to take urgent measures," he assured.

By the way, during the meeting with the mission from the CIS, gratitude was expressed on their part for interaction and openness. "They have free movement on the territory of Belarus; they themselves determine where they consider it necessary to go and which commissions to visit. In a word, they act at their own discretion," the head of the Belarusian CEC added.
