- This is a historic moment. I think we should all support the President's decision, consolidate and help the Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republics, refugees. Literally a few minutes ago, the president made an urgent appeal to the Russians and recommended that the Ukrainian military immediately lay down their arms and go home, - said Andriy Shymkiv, chairman of the Legislative Assembly.

The decision of the President of the Russian Federation to recognize the independence of the DPR and LPR at the eighteenth session of the Parliament was supported by applause.

Andrey Panferov, First Deputy Chairman of the Legislative Assembly, head of the United Russia faction in the regional parliament, wished the Russian people, the people of the Luhansk and Donetsk republics, stamina, determination, and dignity.

- With our people, any tasks and any victories are within reach. The United Russia faction has long decided that it will help refugees and the republics recognized by the president, support will be provided both by the work of volunteers and donations, - said Andrei Panferov.

The head of the Communist Party faction Vladimir Karpov stressed that it is necessary to provide assistance to the residents of Donbass.

- The faction of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation in the legislature supports the decision of the president. Eight years of bullying, in fact, a war of annihilation... We are joining forces to help the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. We are joining in fundraising, donations to help war-torn people and these two republics. The unanimity that is shown cannot but rejoice. This is how it should be done when our compatriots are put to the test,” said Vladimir Karpov.

In the opinion of the LDPR faction, the task of the deputies is to work actively: "We have set up collection points for refugees, we will join the fundraising."

- The key now should be the consolidation of society: in the historical memory of Russians it is very vivid what war is. Of course, there is a lot of anxiety in society right now. Moreover, it is superimposed on the anxiety that has accumulated due to the fact that the situation is economically quite difficult. But all conflicts should move aside, fade into the background. A huge part of society supports the recognition of the DPR and LPR, it was inevitable, - said Natalia Krasovskaya, deputy chairman of the regional parliament.
