Russia - Tigers counted in the Amur Region

Russia (bbabo.net), - Experts counted six tigers in the Amur Region - three males and the same number of females. Moreover, the first live in the north of the region, and the second - in the south.

At first, they planned to look for tiger tracks only in the Arkharinsky, Bureya and Romny districts. But then the search was also extended to Selemdzhinsky, Zeysky, Shimanovsky and Magdagachinsky. A few dozen people were involved in the census of striped predators.

“We carefully monitor the behavior of the striped animals entrusted to us. We can state that they are doing well. Elena settled in the depths of the Khingan Reserve, where it is inaccessible to humans, there is enough food around. Similarly, Sanda hid. As for Amba, who several times caught her eye residents of the Arkharinsky district, then we are also calm about it and advise Amur residents not to worry," said Alexei Abrosimov, head of the Amur Hunting Department.

The last tiger count was conducted in the Amur region in 2015. Then only two predators were counted in the region - a male and a female. According to the Amur branch of the World Wildlife Fund, in 2004-2005, 423-502 individuals of this rare animal lived in Russia, and in 2014-2015 - up to 540.
