The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during the briefing, spoke about the purpose of the Russian special operation in Ukraine. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
According to the diplomat, the purpose of the operation is to bring the "puppet" regime in Kiev to justice for "crimes committed during these years against civilians," including Russian citizens.
She also stated that the "puppet" government in Ukraine has no sovereignty.
“The current government, the Kiev regime, these puppet people who proclaimed themselves the rulers of this land, humiliate the dignity of people, mocking them. So, they are deprived of any sovereignty,” Zakharova said.
In her opinion, the only thing that the Ukrainian authorities can do is use the instructions that come from across the ocean. At the same time, they do this “not always successfully and precisely against the interests” of the Ukrainian people, the representative of the foreign ministry emphasized.
She also expressed confidence that the people of Ukraine "will be freed from the yoke of the nationalist government, which exploits the country in the interests of foreign players, and will begin to live a full sovereign life, respecting the rights, freedoms and interests of all its citizens without division on national, linguistic or religious grounds."
On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.
