Russia (bbabo.net), - The Council of Europe is increasingly turning into an appendage of the European Union, working according to American patterns. So the head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky commented on the decision of the Council of Europe to suspend the membership of the Russian Federation in the organization.

“The Council of Europe, from a pan-European organization, to my great regret, has turned into an appendage of the European Union, working according to American standards and patterns,” Slutsky wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also drew attention to the selective application of such concepts as the rule of law, human rights, democracy, which were not mentioned in the Council of Europe during the bloody and illegal coup in Ukraine in 2014.

Slutsky called this approach hypocrisy and double standards.
