The UK has closed airspace to all Russian aircraft. It is reported by Euronews with reference to the British Secretary of State for Transport Grant Shapps.

“I signed restrictions prohibiting all scheduled Russian airlines from entering the UK or landing on British soil,” Shapps was quoted as saying.

Earlier it was reported that the Federal Air Transport Agency took similar measures. From 11 a.m. on February 25, a restriction was introduced on the use of the airspace of the Russian Federation for flights by civil aircraft registered in the UK and related countries, including transit flights.

These actions were a response to the sanctions imposed by the UK against Aeroflot and other Russian companies after the start of a military operation in Ukraine to protect the DPR and LPR. The sanctions also affected Russian banks and defense companies.
