Hungary can become a platform for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine

Hungary invited Russia and Ukraine to hold peace talks in Budapest. This was stated by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, who flew to New York for consultations with UN representatives on the situation in Ukraine, TASS reports.

The Minister noted that his country wants peace.

“That is why we are working, that is why I will discuss with representatives of the governments of Russia and Ukraine the beginning of direct negotiations in Budapest,” the diplomat said.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that Azerbaijani and Turkish colleagues Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during a conversation with him, offered to organize negotiations with Moscow on the situation in the Ukrainian state.

Prior to this, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the office of the Ukrainian president, said that Kyiv had refused to negotiate with Moscow.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

Ukraine severed diplomatic relations with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill on general mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada.
