There must be a strategic partnership between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GSS) countries and the US, a senior official from the UAE urged yesterday while stressing that “the GCC countries should be treated at the same level the US considers Israel.”

Speaking on the topic ‘The Future of US-GCC Security Co-operation and Regional Security’ organised by Doha Brookings Centre, Ebtesam al-Ketbi, president, Emirates Policy Centre, pointed out that the countries in the region “suspected the US policies” in the Middle East.

Al-Ketbi siad that GCC countries were of the opinion that US is interested only in its priorities such as containing terrorism and does not see through the plans of Iran. She also highlighted that the instabilities in the region are not the making of the GCC countries and the US is looking only at certain parts of the issue and not the whole issue.
