The deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, who caused the scandal in Donbass, said that he does not have Russian citizenship

The former Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, in an interview with Babel, spoke about the scandal with law enforcement officers, in which he became a participant, and also spoke about his Russian citizenship.

Last week, Gogilashvili was implicated in an incident that was caught on camera. He made a scandal at the entrance to the Donetsk region, when he was demanded to show his documents. Gogilashvili stated that the police officer did not recognize him, although the politician had been in office for three years. “It's sad that you don't know. Now you know, but now I know you too, friend, and it won't be pleasant for you, ”Gogilashvili threatened.

The ex-deputy minister explained his rudeness towards the police by his difficult "emotional state."

“So that you just understand my emotional state 24 by 7. There was an attempt to assassinate me - they shot a car in 2019. After the appointment - three months later, there is a criminal proceeding, but I cannot talk about it. There was a threat to the family. And I live in such a state, ”Gogilashvili said.

He admitted that there have already been many cases when he was rude to law enforcement officers. The politician explained their presence by the fact that he has "such a character."

The former deputy head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs also stated that he is not a citizen of the Russian Federation.

“I am not a citizen of Russia, I am a former citizen of Russia. I have no Russian citizenship. I do not have a Russian passport or Russian citizenship. I have a Ukrainian passport, a Ukrainian passport, but I don't have a Russian one. It's my choice. My citizenship, ”he said.

In addition, the ex-official said that a criminal case was opened against him in the Russian Federation because of “extremism and civic stance in 2015”. At the same time, he indicated that in 2016 his parents were allegedly summoned to the FSB.

Gogilashvili also said that he had visited the Maidan.

“I was on the Maidan, which I never shouted about in my life. Didn't hang up posters. In my life I could not imagine that I - a person who served this country - would be accused of being pro-Russian. I know 100%, this country is a country of freedom, and the only enemy is Russia. I do not associate myself with Russia. I am not a citizen of Russia and I am not one - neither conceptually nor in fact, ”the politician said.

According to him, the Maidan was the "starting point" in obtaining Ukrainian citizenship and moving from Russia.

“Then I decided that I didn’t want to be a citizen of the aggressor country. Here we report the history of Georgia in 2008 and 1989. Because Russia broke my life, the life of my family and continues to do so to this day, ”concluded Gogilashvili.

Earlier it became known that Gogilashvili was dismissed from his post.
