The defense of Saratov resident Galina Reshetnikova, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison on charges of transferring $800 to Syrian militants, failed to get a review of the court's decision.
The Saratov Regional Court concluded that the decision of the first instance was fair and did not need to be reviewed.
According to investigators, in 2018, a woman whose relative was in the ranks of the Uzbek Jamaat (the group joined ISIS*) transferred $800 to combatants in Syria.
After about three years, the court appointed the accused 10 years in a penal colony.
The court decision states that Reshetnikova was aware of the situation in Syria and that her mother is a member of one of the illegal armed groups operating in the SAR. It is noted that the woman found an intermediary to transfer money to her mother. The funds, as the court ruled, went to finance the group.
