The wrong coal. What is the treason of ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko

Petro Poroshenko was accused of treason in the framework of the case on the purchase of coal from Donbass. His lawyer, Ilya Novikov, said that the ex-president of Ukraine was summoned for interrogation on December 23. Poroshenko's party said that the leader of European Solidarity, who is abroad, will definitely return to the country. More details - in the material "Gazeta.Ru". Former President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko was charged with treason. This was announced on Monday, December 20, by the ex-secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of the republic, head of the central headquarters of the European Solidarity party, Alexander Turchinov.

"Poroshenko was declared suspicion of high treason," TASS quoted him as saying. The recording of Turchinov's briefing has been made public on his Facebook page.

It is clarified that the ex-head of state became a defendant in a criminal case on the purchase of coal from Donbass. Commenting on the situation, Turchinov recalled the "military aggravation" in the region in 2014-2015 and stressed that at that time the country's leadership was able to "ensure energy security" with the help of coal supplies. Recall that Turchinov himself was temporarily acting president of Ukraine from February 23 to June 7, 2014.

According to him, Poroshenko, who is currently abroad, will definitely return to Ukraine after the scheduled international meetings and a short vacation. The "European Solidarity" reported that the former president "left for a pre-planned diplomatic tour to Turkey and Poland."

The essence of the charges

It is noted that the Prosecutor General of Ukraine Irina Venediktova did not sign Poroshenko's suspicion and instead of her it was done by the deputy head of the supervisory department Aleksey Symonenko.

As the lawyer of the fifth president of the country, Ilya Novikov, clarified, Poroshenko was summoned for interrogation, which should be held on December 23.

“Two hours ago, a delegation from the prosecutor’s office came to Petro Poroshenko’s house, asked the security guard if the fifth president was at home (he’s at a conference in Warsaw, but they probably didn’t know it themselves) and stuck the text of the signed suspicion“ in the case of supplies coal from the DPR "and a summons for interrogation on December 23," he wrote on his Facebook page.

Novikov also recounted the position of the investigation. “According to their version, in order to donate and disinterestedly send UAH 200 million to the DPR and LPR during 2015, Poroshenko created a criminal group and conducted a whole special operation to disrupt the coal supplies from South Africa contracted in the fall of 2014. Because if coal came from South Africa, it would not be possible to buy it in CADLO. Since there is no evidence of this at all, they describe the whole situation in the genre of conspiracy theories, attributing to each phrase that someone has done something or said "on the unofficial instructions of Poroshenko." At the same time, it becomes important for them to prove that the coal from South Africa was of good quality and at a reasonable price. They completely ignore all the old examinations and data that it did not burn without kerosene, they do not notice that it costs $ 130 instead of $ 90 and was purchased through offshore companies, and that after the cancellation of the state contract, DTEK enterprises bought it for $ 80. In their version, it was excellent coal, which interfered with the scheme for financing the DPR, and the conspirators, led by Poroshenko, therefore compromised it.

They are trying to feed society a story about bad and incorrect coal purchases under Poroshenko in 2014 against the backdrop of empty coal warehouses in 2021, complete dependence on Russia for coal and electricity, and a series of scandals with Zelensky and his closest associates, offshore companies, Wagnerites, state secret. The main expectation is that the whole situation will roll into the New Year holidays, and that under Olivier, champagne and herring you will not notice what they are doing, and you will not hear the one who will notice and say, ”the lawyer suggested.

According to official data, the current authorities of the republic suspected Poroshenko of treason in early October, when records were circulated concerning the case of Viktor Medvedchuk, head of the political council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party. According to law enforcement agencies, these records prove "the guilt of the former president of the republic in high treason and his involvement in the purchase of coal from the territories of Donbass not controlled by Kiev."

Poroshenko left Ukraine on December 17, traveling to Turkey and Poland to participate in meetings and an international conference on the topic "Russia-Ukraine-NATO." On the eve of the politician's departure, an employee of the State Bureau of Investigation tried to hand him a summons in a criminal case, but the ex-president ignored him, got into the car and drove away.

Poroshenko, 56, led Ukraine from June 7, 2014 to May 20, 2019. Now he is a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the IX convocation, the chairman of the European Solidarity party.“The collision lies in the fact that Poroshenko, who sent troops to the Donbass to suppress the“ rebellion ”, is accused of treason, in fact, for Kiev's contract with enterprises located on the territory of the so-called DPR and LPR. But listen, after all, the Ukrainian authorities both then and now declare that there is no and cannot be any other jurisdiction besides Ukraine. That is, yes, these territories are not under the control of Kiev, but this does not mean that they are no longer considered Ukrainian in Kiev. So what is treason?

Another question is that many accuse Poroshenko of unleashing the war in the spring of 2014, of the death of tens of thousands of people on both sides of the front. Apparently, this is not high treason or a war crime to send Ukrainians to kill Ukrainians? And there is no end in sight to this armed confrontation in the Donbass, the methods of a peaceful settlement have reached an impasse. But that is already a different story, "- concluded in an interview with political scientist Grigory Alexandrov.
