First results of Tokayev's visit to Iran announced

Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the introduction of a two-week visa-free regime, which will apply to Iranian citizens visiting the country.

The Kazakh leader's statement was made the day before during a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ibrahim Raisi in Tehran.

According to Tokayev, the purpose of this measure is to expand the complex interaction between Tehran and Nur-Sultan, in particular, to intensify business contacts, and also to promote the growth of tourist flow from the Islamic Republic.

Among the main results of Tokayev's visit to Iran is an agreement to strengthen trade and economic cooperation between the two states through the creation of a joint chamber of commerce. The heads of state also set out to increase trade to $3 billion.

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan thanked the Iranian side for the invitation and warm welcome, noting that this visit is of great importance to him, since he is visiting the country for the first time

He called Tehran a reliable partner of the republic and expressed confidence that the talks would serve as an impetus for the development of bilateral cooperation.

“The Kazakhs say: “The right of a neighbor is the right of the Almighty.” Our country has always lived in peace and harmony with its neighbors. Iran is our closest neighbor in the Caspian region and a reliable partner,” Tokayev added.

In Iran, the Kazakh President is scheduled to have a number of meetings, including with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
