Ukraine's budget deficit by the end of the year will be about $50 billion, Oleg Ustinenko, adviser to the President of Ukraine on economic issues, believes.
“Our state budget has a monthly deficit of about $5 billion. And we planned that it would be 7 billion for the whole year, but we received it per month. I would expect that by the end of the year we will have a global budget deficit of about $50 billion. It will be about 30-35% of our GDP. This is a very large deficit,” Ustimenko said on the air of the national telethon.
However, some Ukrainian media consider such a sad assessment to be overly optimistic.
“According to our data, the state budget deficit of Ukraine at the end of the year may be about $80 billion, or 60% of GDP. Everything depends on the continuation of hostilities and the result of the infrastructure war that has begun, writes the popular Ukrainian TG channel Legitimny. - Zelensky's economic adviser Ustinenko calls the figure $50 billion. It's too positive a scenario."
Ukraine's request for foreign financial support is becoming phantasmagoric.
