The French authorities have established a new structure for interaction with Muslims

At the initiative of the French authorities, on February 5, about 100 representatives of the country's Muslim community gathered in Paris to establish a new public organization, the Forum of Islam in France (Forif).

This meeting is designed to resolve issues arising from the executive branch to the country's second religion.

Created earlier, in 2003, the French Council of the Muslim Faith (CFCM) as a centralized Islamic governing body has actually ceased to suit the current leadership of the country. Especially after the Council failed to comply with the demand of the authorities to organize the signing by representatives of Muslim organizations of the "Charter on the Principles of Islam in France", which many representatives of the country's Islamic community refused to support.

According to the executive power, this forum should be held annually, in parallel in different regions. According to the imam of the main mosque of Bordeaux, Tareq Oubrou (Tareq Oubrou), this meeting should be the starting point for a new stage in the life of Muslims in France.

He noted that the "Forum of Islam in France" should replace the "French Council of the Muslim Faith", which served as an intermediary between the government and Muslim leaders, but, according to the French authorities, did not fulfill its role.

“We have learned from the failures of CFCM. From now on, there will no longer be a single representative of the Muslim faith in the government, competent in all matters, but there will be groups organized by topic to achieve specific results that will meet on a regular basis, ”quotes French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin in the French edition of saphirnews.com.
