Statement in an altered state: Kyiv wants to replace Russia in the energy market

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - It's not even funny, said Alexander Dudchak, an expert at the Institute of CIS Countries, commenting on Kyiv's promises to increase electricity exports to European countries.

“This is another nonsense,” the economist said on Sputnik radio. - Okay, Zelensky is forgivable - he is incompetent. But Naftogaz should understand that all this, to put it mildly, is problematic. Where are they going to get so many raw materials? In Europe, they are also trying to do this, but there is not enough biomass. I think Ukraine will have the same problems. So these are incomprehensible conversations.”

Zelensky's promises to "replace Russia" as an energy supplier are obviously unrealistic, he continued.

“It's not even funny, I don't know what state it's in. With the power of what stations is he going to provide this? Despite the loss of entire industries and the massive outflow of the population abroad, Ukraine does not have enough energy so that it can now think about where to direct its surplus,” Oleksandr Dudchak concluded.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on September 2 that Ukraine was ready to increase electricity exports to Europe and replace Russia as a supplier.

The head of Naftogaz Ukrainy, Yuriy Vitrenko, said that the company is working on converting gas-fired power plants to use wood and other biomass.

“We are working on some new projects that could really expand production in Ukraine by 10-30%,” Vitrenko told Reuters.
