Caucasus (bbabo.net), - With the mediation of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan reached an agreement on a ceasefire from 9.00 Moscow time. This is stated in a statement released today, September 13, by the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the escalation of tension between the two countries.

“We are in close contact with Baku and Yerevan. An appeal was received from the Armenian leadership with a request to assist in resolving the situation in accordance with the existing bilateral agreements and through the CSTO. We expect that the agreement reached as a result of Russian mediation on a ceasefire from 09:00 Moscow time on September 13 will be implemented in full,” the statement says.

The Foreign Ministry expressed "extreme concern over the sharp aggravation of the situation in certain areas of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on the night of September 13."

"We call on the parties to refrain from further escalation of the situation, show restraint and strictly observe the ceasefire in accordance with the tripartite statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia dated November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021," the diplomatic department stressed .

As stated in the document, Moscow still proceeds from the fact that “all disputes between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be resolved exclusively through political and diplomatic means, and in terms of border issues, within the framework of the work of the bilateral Commission on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.” with the advisory assistance of Russia.
