Apple asked its suppliers to comply with Chinese customs regulations

Apple has asked its suppliers to ensure shipments from Taiwan to China comply with Chinese customs regulations in order to avoid scrutiny.

Trade tensions between China and the US escalated after the visit of Speaker of the Lower House of the US Parliament Nancy Pelosi and a congressional delegation to Taiwan.

Apple has told suppliers that China has begun enforcing a rule requiring components made in Taiwan to be labeled "Taiwan China" or "Chinese Taipei".

Apple today confirmed that Taiwan's Pegatron Corp's iPhone assembly facility in mainland China is operating as normal. Earlier, the media reported about the shutdown of the plant. However, Pegatron assured that the supply does not stop.

Apple's Taiwanese supply and assembly partners Foxconn and Pegatron are ramping up production capacity as the corporation aims to launch its updated product line in September and October this year.
