US to supply Javelins to Jordan and Lithuania

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - The US Army ordered Javelin anti-tank missile systems for a total amount of more than $ 311 million. This was announced on Tuesday, September 13, at the Pentagon.

"The Raytheon/Lockheed Martin Joint Venture in Tucson, Arizona, has been awarded a $311,171,000 contract to manufacture Javelins," it said.

The US military department noted that these missile systems will be delivered to Jordan and Lithuania. It is planned that the contract will be fully completed by November 30, 2026.

Earlier, on August 16, it was reported that Lithuania would sign an agreement with the United States for the supply of HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems in the fall. The republic will receive military equipment at the same time as Estonia.

Prior to this, on August 14, The Washington Post reported that US NATO allies had asked to strengthen the eastern flank of the alliance with additional weapons. Latvian Defense Minister Artis Pabriks justified the increase in military supplies and production by the need to "contain Russia."

Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas said on June 8 that NATO needs to strengthen its presence on its eastern flank in connection with the events in Ukraine.
