Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that his country will not be held accountable to the European Union for attending the SCO summit in Uzbekistan.

According to Erdogan, European leaders have no moral right to condemn Turkey for rapprochement with other countries, given that the country has been unsuccessfully waiting for EU accession for decades.

The head of the Turkish state stressed that Ankara will negotiate with all states with whom it deems necessary and will not report to the EU.

Prior to this, Erdogan called Ankara's goal of joining the SCO.
