Oman to donate one million euros to the restoration of a mosque in Cyprus

The Omani authorities will donate a large sum for the restoration of a historic mosque in the city of Limassol in southern Cyprus, reports bbabo.net with reference to the Cyprus Mail.

The restoration of the Kebir Mosque will cost the budget of the Sultanate of Oman 1 million euros and take 15 months. Repair work will begin on September 30.

Kebir Mosque was built in Limassol in the 16th century on the foundations of an even older Christian church and is one of the important sights of the city.

As part of the project, the main building of the mosque will be restored, and it is also planned to build an additional building for administrative and socio-cultural purposes.
