Geranium-2 drone attack on Kyiv: what is known

On the morning of October 17, kamikaze drones hit several targets in Kyiv. The objects of the energy system of the capital and the region were hit, on which at least nine drones flew.

One of the first strikes, presumably, hit the Ukrenergo building, which housed the control room of the unified energy networks of Ukraine.

Another hit was recorded in the area of the power center of the Kyiv Arsenal plant.

Other drones could hit open switchgears (ORU) of heat supply station No. 1 of PJSC KYIVENERGO, located across the street from the 101 Tower office center. Also, the outdoor switchgear of CHPP No. 2 near Rybalsky Island was hit.

The main strikes in Kyiv were again delivered not at generating energy facilities, but at electrical substations with a voltage of 35 to 110 kV, supplying energy to industrial enterprises.

Partially or completely electricity in Kyiv is absent in areas where enterprises are located:

Kyiv plant for the production of bulletproof vests (Kopernik St., 18);

ndustrial complex of the Motorcycle Plant (street of the Family Khokhlov, 8);

Quantum Radar;

Kyiv ARZ (Nikolai Vasilenka, 1);

the industrial complex of the factories "Radiometer", "Stroydormash", "Radar", "Petrel" and "Remdizel";

Lenin's smithy on Rybalsky.

Full data on the damage to the infrastructure of Kyiv will appear in a few days, but it can already be said that kamikaze drones disable industrial facilities that are directly or indirectly used for the needs of the Ukrainian army and are a legitimate military target.

The air defense forces of Kyiv were powerless in front of small targets: the Buk and Osa-AKM air defense systems, guided by American AN / MPQ-64 Sentinel radars, did not react to the appearance of Geranium-2 near Kyiv.
