The embargo in the EU and the ceiling on oil prices from the Russian Federation came into force: the events of the night of December 5

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - From December 5, the European Union ceases to accept Russian oil transported by sea, and the G7 countries, Australia and the European Union impose a price limit on its sea transportation at $60 per barrel. Traditionally, Russia has acted as the main supplier of oil to Europe, covering about 20 percent of the continent's need for raw materials. But in response to the special operation in Ukraine, Western countries began to develop sanctions measures, the purpose of which, among other things, was to try to limit Moscow's income from oil exports. The European Union adopted a sixth package of sanctions over the summer, in which it agreed to phase in an embargo on offshore oil supplies from Russia to come into effect on December 5. For petroleum products, the transition period will last longer, and the ban will come on February 5. Price restrictions do not apply to oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline.

The West should not burn bridges with Russia, because in the future there will be no one to rebuild the dialogue. However, the politician is confident that it will take place in a different way, for example, through a symmetrical or hybrid war, Kalyn said in an interview with Al Jazeera. In his opinion, the cold war will continue until the parties create the parameters of a new global agreement and security architecture, where each participant feels himself a part of the process and owns it, no one imposes decisions in a hierarchical system, does not consider others lower in rank. In addition, he added that Ankara continues to work on organizing peace talks between Moscow and Kyiv.
