The US Embassy in Latvia will be headed by a diplomat from the Department of Russian Affairs

USA (bbabo.net), - Ambassador of the United States to Latvia John Leslie Carvile today, January 26, arrived on a farewell visit to the working residence of the head of state, Egils Levits, the office of the President reports.

Carvile headed the US diplomatic mission in 2019 at the suggestion of former President Donald Trump. Probably, the activities of John Leslie were successful: official Riga became a loyal vassal of Washington and a Russophobic outpost in the region. Not without the participation of an American diplomat, the Latvian Foreign Ministry decided to expel the Russian ambassador and downgrade relations with Moscow to the level of chargé d'affaires.

Career diplomat Christopher Robinson will become the new ambassador to Latvia. He will arrive at the residence in March. bbabo.net clarifies that Robinson is a senior foreign affairs official with the rank of envoy-counselor and currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. Previously, Robinson served as political adviser to the envoy at the US Embassy in Moscow. Prior to that, he worked at the State Department as Deputy Director of the Russian Affairs Section, at the US Mission to the European Security and Cooperation Council in Vienna, and as a political adviser in Managua. He also performed assignments in Iraq, Belarus, Canada and Russia.

Robinson holds an M.S. in Strategic Science from the National War College of the US National Defense University and a B.A. in International Relations from George Washington University. Awarded the State Department Distinguished Service Medal. Speaks Russian and Spanish.
