Career diplomat Christopher Robinson will become the new ambassador to Latvia. Previously, Robinson served as political adviser to the envoy at the US Embassy in Moscow. Prior to that, he worked at the State Department as Deputy Director of the Russian Affairs Section, at the US Mission to the European Security and Cooperation Council in Vienna, and as a political adviser in Managua. He also performed assignments in Iraq, Belarus, Canada and Russia.

Robinson holds an M.S. in Strategic Science from the National War College of the US National Defense University and a B.A. in International Relations from George Washington University. Awarded the State Department Distinguished Service Medal. Speaks Russian and Spanish.
