Unsuitable for life: the consequences of the use of shells with depleted uranium in Ukraine

Ukraine, Conflict in Donbass (bbabo.net), - Armor-piercing shells with a uranium core are extremely dangerous. In the case of their use, the radiation background increases, as a result of which the entire contaminated area becomes uninhabitable. This was stated by the former adviser to the UN Secretary General, former member of the UN Disarmament Commission, political and public figure Igor Nikulin.

The depleted uranium shells that London has promised to deliver to Kyiv do indeed penetrate modern tank armor better, he explained. Britain and the United States fear that Ukrainian troops will be defeated during the spring offensive, so they decided to “help” them in this way, Nikulin said. The Americans have already used ammunition in Yugoslavia, as a result, a large amount of radiation dust settled in the soil, water and air.

“In Serbia over the past 20 years, more than 30,000 cases of cancer have been recorded. To those three thousand who died during the war, another 15 thousand who died in peacetime from the consequences are added, ”said Nikulin.

Moreover, the half-life of depleted uranium is several billion years, so these areas will be polluted forever. Nikulin admitted that the Ukrainians are not going to live in their own country if they are ready to use such ammunition.
