Iraq complains about Iran to the UN Security Council

Greater Middle East (bbabo.net), - Iraq's Foreign Ministry sent two identical letters to the UN Security Council and UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in connection with Iran's strikes on Iraqi Erbil, CNN reports.

“Iranian missile aggression (...) resulted in civilian casualties, injuries to others and damage to public and private property,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.

“This aggression is a flagrant violation of Iraqi sovereignty, territorial integrity and the security of the Iraqi people,” the ministry emphasized.

On Tuesday night, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched strikes against targets in Iraq and Syria. It was reported that "ballistic missiles were used to destroy spy centers and concentrations of anti-Iranian terrorist groups in the region late in the evening." In particular, it was noted that the target of the IRGC strike was “the spy headquarters of the Israeli Mossad in Iraqi Kurdistan.”

The US condemned the attacks, and Iraqi National Security Adviser Qasem al-Araji denied Tehran's claims that the IRGC's missile attack on the city of Erbil was aimed at a facility of the Israeli intelligence service Mossad. Iraqi authorities recalled the ambassador from Tehran and summoned Iran's charge d'affaires in Baghdad to clarify the incident.
