Russia (bbabo.net) - Italy could play a mediating role in negotiations between Russia and NATO on security guarantees. This idea was expressed at the annual press conference by Russian President Vladimir Putin, speaking about the relationship between Moscow and Rome.

The head of state drew attention to the fact that contacts between him and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi are being conducted in a benevolent manner and very meaningful. According to him, relations between our countries are good and stable, they "have a non-partisan character", do not depend on the forces that at one time or another head the republic.

“Bearing in mind both the benevolent mood and the level of our relations, Italy could play a role in the normalization of Russian-EU relations, and even through the negotiations that are now being planned between Russia and NATO,” Putin said.

“Italy is a NATO country, an EU country, but this does not prevent us from working in the way I said. I hope that it will be so,” the Russian president expressed confidence.
