Israel will send an official response to the court's claims in The Hague

Israel (bbabo.net) - Israel will send an official document to the International Court of Justice in The Hague saying that the Jewish state is complying with the demands of judges in a case brought by South Africa. Let us recall that in the text of the lawsuit, representatives of South Africa insisted that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza. This became known on Saturday, February 24.

The International Court of Justice issued 6 rulings upon completion of its work. One said Israel must submit a written report on Feb. 26 detailing how it is implementing the court's orders.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a very brief response on the case, saying that Israel is following orders. In particular, in everything related to the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza, refraining from incitement to genocide and alleged attempts to hide evidence related to genocide.

The Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have formulated Israel's response; it will be sent to The Hague after Netanyahu approves it. In this document, Israel will say that all court decisions were carried out by Israel even before their publication. Jerusalem is extremely pleased that the de facto court has rejected most of South Africa's claims against Israel.

As reported by the media, the International Court of Justice in The Hague did not demand that Israel immediately cease hostilities, demanding only to “avoid actions that fall under the definition of genocide,” “end incitement to genocide of Palestinians,” and “promote an increase in humanitarian aid to Gaza.” . The interim decision in South Africa's lawsuit accusing Israel of “genocide of the Palestinians” was announced on Friday, January 26, by the head of the court, Joan Donoghue.

Let us recall that South Africa filed a claim with the International Court of Justice in December 2023. On January 11 and 12, the parties presented their positions on the merits. At the same time, representatives of South Africa demanded urgent decisions, arguing that “Israel’s military actions in the Gaza Strip are tantamount to genocide.”

At the same time, the court did not reject South Africa's claims, although Israel insisted on this. The merits of the claim will continue (according to estimates, it will take many years), as the court concluded that “there is a certain degree of justice in South Africa’s demand to protect the citizens of the Gaza Strip.”

In total, South Africa requested nine emergency measures, which were considered by the court at this stage. These included a ceasefire, humanitarian access, the return of displaced persons to their homes, non-obstruction of international investigations in Gaza, and provision of regular reports on the implementation of prescribed measures.
