Military railroad workers of the units of the Eastern Military District (VVO) have begun laying a new branch of the BAM in the Amur region, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the press service of the VVO.

“In the village of Ogoron, Amur Region, on the site of the reconstruction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), a solemn event was held dedicated to the start of laying a new railway track of the reconstructed BAM branch in the area of ​​responsibility of the Eastern Military District (VVO). The solemn event was held under the leadership of the Commander of the Eastern Military District, Hero of Russia, Colonel-General Alexander Chaiko, ”the message says.

800 servicemen and 400 units of construction and special equipment of railway connections took part in the reconstruction and laying of a new branch of the Baikal-Amur Mainline.

At the same time, the work on the laying of tracks is carried out at extremely low temperatures.

Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered to increase the staff of the railway troops to expand the BAM.
