And doctors will receive all the payments due to them on time, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Presidium of the Coordinating Council to Combat the Spread of Coronavirus.
"We see what is happening in other states. In some, the number of cases with a new mutation of the virus is growing especially rapidly. We need to be ready for any scenario, take into account the experience of other countries," the head of the Cabinet of Ministers said. And he said that under these conditions it is necessary to continue the study of circulating strains. "The government will allocate an additional 90 million rubles to our epidemiologists to conduct their genetic analysis," Mishustin said.
The healthcare system has been working under conditions of increased workload for almost two years, the prime minister said. In particular, patients with coronavirus undergo various examinations, including X-ray ones. "Due to the fact that they have begun to be carried out more often, the equipment wears out faster. We decided to allocate 10 billion rubles to the regions of our country for the repair and replacement of equipment that is used in the examination and treatment of patients with covid," Mishustin said. The money will be received by 54 Russian entities and will also be able to use it to purchase consumables for hospitals, personal protective equipment for personnel.
Separately, the head of government noted the need for timely oxygen supplies. "We will involve the Russian Fund for Technological Development in the purchase of special vehicles for storing and delivering oxygen to medical institutions. A government decree has been signed that allows it to finance such projects," the prime minister said. According to him, this will help to purchase about 90 units of equipment for 750 million rubles and to solve the problem of oxygen supply, which is needed for severe patients.
The cabinet did not forget about the doctors. “The government has allocated over 50 billion rubles to ensure that health workers receive the funds they are entitled to for November, December and January,” Mishustin said. "This is not taking into account the double payment initiated by the president for work on January holidays for medical and social workers who work in inpatient social service institutions. We will also provide funding," he added.
