Pricing will continue to be controlled in Belarus

Belarus (bbabo.net), - The Belarusian authorities do not intend to deviate from the practice of controlling pricing. Alexander Lukashenko stated this today, March 28, while listening to a report on the work of the banking system and measures taken to support foreign trade activities.

The President of Belarus recalled that not only the National Bank, but also the government, which bears a certain burden, is responsible for inflation and rising prices in the country.

“On my instructions, the government has taken certain measures to take control of the pricing system. I see that we are able to control the pricing system and, to some extent, restrain prices,” he said.

According to him, “we will not deviate from this practice.”

“The system of control over pricing and this whole complex will only become stronger. This task has been set before the government. I ask the National Bank to keep this in mind and do everything necessary so that people are less offended by us due to rising prices and inflation in the country,” the Belarusian leader emphasized.

At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the state is not going to intervene and limit price increases where this is not necessary, or, conversely, observe unjustified price increases without taking proper measures.

“We want to develop a coherent system of control over pricing. Some may like it, others may not. But I made the decision, and it is subject to execution,” he explained.

Let us remind you that after the introduction of various Western sanctions in Belarus, there was a significant increase in prices. In this regard, the republican authorities decided to begin regulating them through administrative measures, which yielded results. At the end of 2023, inflation was at 5.8% with a target level of 7-8%. In 2024, according to the authorities, price increases should not exceed 6%.
