The President of Kazakhstan met with the SCO Secretary General in Hainan

Asia (bbabo.net), - President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, on the sidelines of the Boao Asian Forum, which is taking place these days on the Chinese island of Hainan, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Zhang Ming. This was reported by the press service of the head of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the press service, during the conversation the parties exchanged views on issues of further improving the organization’s work.

According to Tokayev, Kazakhstan attaches exceptional importance to the upcoming Astana SCO summit, which will be dedicated to the theme “Strengthening multilateral dialogue - the pursuit of sustainable peace and development.”

“I think we should work closely together because the Astana summit is extremely important given the current geopolitical situation. The whole world will follow the progress of the summit, its decisions and negotiations. As I understand it, all heads of state members of the organization intend to take part in this summit. As the host country, Kazakhstan will do everything possible to make the summit a success,” he said.

As Tokayev emphasized, Kazakhstan views the SCO as an effective mechanism for stimulating processes of regional security, trade and economic interaction and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

In turn, Zhang Ming noted Kazakhstan’s significant contribution to the development of the SCO’s potential.

“I highly appreciate the enormous efforts of Kazakhstan as the presiding country, as well as the special attention that you, Your Excellency, pay to improving the activities of the SCO. We expect the summit in Astana to be very successful,” he said.

Two wanted criminals extradited from Turkey to Kazakhstan

Asia (bbabo.net), - Two wanted criminals were extradited from Turkey to Kazakhstan. This was reported by the Almaty prosecutor's office.

“The Almaty prosecutor’s office, through clarification of the legislation, voluntarily returned two citizens of the Republic of Kazakhstan wanted for committing serious crimes,” the official information says.

It is reported that the criminals were hiding from law enforcement agencies of Kazakhstan in Turkey for more than 5 years.

On March 28, at the Almaty International Airport, a formal procedural detention procedure was carried out in their respect, after which both were placed in a temporary detention center.
