Polls: Majority of Israelis Against Coalition Draft Law on Conscription

We present to you two fresh polls and one of them is the traditional Friday “Maariv” poll on electoral preferences. It is conducted by Lazar Researches in collaboration with Panel4All.

Good news for Saar - his party overcomes the electoral barrier and gains 4 mandates.

“State Camp” remains the largest party, but within a week it loses two mandates - 33 seats.

Likud gains two seats - 19.

Next come Yesh Atid - 12, Otzma Judit, NDI, Shas - 10 mandates each, Yahadut HaTorah - 7. Meretz, HADASH-TAAL, RAAM have five mandates each. “Religious Zionism” beyond the threshold of the Knesset.

45 percent for Gantz as prime minister, 38 for Netanyahu.

The Channel 13 poll focused on the coalition's draft law, which grants most Haredim a deferment from conscription. 60% of respondents answered that they were against it, 23% supported it, and 17% of respondents answered that they did not know.

Only 17% of respondents believe that the main consideration that drives Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in passing the new conscription law is the desire to achieve equality in the burden, 70% believe that the main consideration that drives him is the desire to maintain the integrity of the coalition. 13% answered that they do not know.

Only 29 percent believe Netanyahu is doing enough to free the hostages.

At a meeting with the families of the hostages, Netanyahu compared himself to Ben-Gurion

On Thursday, some families of the hostages, who have American citizenship, told a meeting with Netanyahu that they were treated better at the White House than in Israel. “Not only hugs, but also keeps you informed of events.”

Netanyahu responded that the Israeli prime minister should be able to say “no” to the Americans: “The Americans also told Ben-Gurion that it was not worth creating a state.”

The families asked Netanyahu to maintain good relations with the United States, but the prime minister was unimpressed by the appeal. He said he was extremely angry that the US did not veto the UN Security Council resolution and that it was not putting enough pressure on Qatar.

At the same time, an Israeli official who participated in the negotiations for the release of the hostages told Kan that the political echelon was not making the best possible effort: “Getting people out is the job of the political echelon, not Hamas. We're running out of time."

Channel 11 news reported that members of the negotiating team asked for a broader mandate to continue negotiations - and were refused. Some of them asked cabinet members to consider more substantive compromises on an important issue that is the subject of dispute between Israel and Hamas - the passage of Gazans into the northern Gaza Strip, but this proposal did not find a majority.

According to sources, not only Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Galant, but also senior defense officials opposed this.
