DTEK: On March 29, Russian missiles and drones hit three of the company’s power plants

Ukraine (bbabo.net), - March 29, the Russian army retaliated against three more DTEK power plants. The company reports this. Previously, its leadership spoke about the complete shutdown of two thermal power plants in Vinnytsia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions.

DTEK reports that today, March 29, the Russian army struck three thermal power plants of the company.

“The equipment was seriously damaged. After the end of the attack, energy workers promptly began to eliminate the consequences,” DTEK reports. The company did not specify which power plants were affected.

Before this, the operator of the Ukrainian energy system reported that thermal and hydroelectric power plants were damaged in the central and western regions of the country and emergency shutdowns were introduced in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The Ministry of Energy of Ukraine clarified that energy facilities in the Dnepropetrovsk, Cherkassy, Kirovograd and Ivano-Frankivsk regions were attacked.

Thermal generation facilities were shelled in the Dnepropetrovsk region. An energy facility in the Ivano-Frankivsk region was also hit; equipment was damaged. As a result of attacks on generation facilities in the Dnepropetrovsk, Cherkasy and Kirovograd regions, equipment was damaged. Substations and, as a result, consumers were de-energized,” the Ukrainian ministry reports.

The retaliatory strike of the Russian army the day before had already left DTEK without two thermal power plants.

“We have lost 50% of installed capacity. Two of our stations were damaged: Burshtynska and Ladyzhinskaya,” DTEK executive director Dmitry Sakharuk told Economic Pravda. — All units of the Burshtyn TPP and all units of the Ladyzhinskaya TPP were damaged. The power units are in varying degrees of destruction: from complete to more than 50%.”

DTEK's losses are only part of the losses of the Ukrainian energy system. Also, the strike on March 22 left Ukraine without the Zmievskaya Thermal Power Plant in the Kharkiv region, one thermal power plant in Kharkiv, the DneproGES hydroelectric power station and Ukrenergo substations. The lost generation capacity is estimated at 2 GW. It is comparable to two nuclear power units.

The head of Ukrhydroenergo, Igor Sirota, said that the Dnieper HPP will be closed for a long time: “These will be the necessary years, these are not days or months.

The scale of destruction at Ukrenergo substations is not yet known, which is cutting the energy system into shreds and preventing the supply of electricity to regions with destroyed stations, even if there is free power. The operator of the Ukrainian energy system estimated its losses at 100 million euros.

On March 22, almost half of Ukraine experienced a blackout - Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, Odessa, Khmelnitsky, Krivoy Rog, Poltava, Zaporozhye, Sumy and Vinnytsia regions. Rolling blackouts continue in four regions of Ukraine. The most difficult situation is in Kharkov, where all of its own generation was destroyed.

The situation in Ukraine is aggravated by the withdrawal of two of the nine nuclear power units for repairs. At the same time, the country imports electricity from neighboring countries - up to 1.3 GWh per hour, and warming has come to the region. Dmitry Sukharuk estimated that the country’s generation can now provide minimum consumption - 10 GW.
